When you think about it, all of the best qualities that define your character are learned from another person, and that other person is usually your mother or father (or both).

But because many single mothers work two jobs, it can be difficult to find time and energy to maintain personal relationships outside of work and home responsibilities, especially when you have children who also need time and attention from you.

If all else fails, consider taking short power naps during your breaks; working shorter hours during weekdays is another option. Although not always possible given work schedules and childcare requirements, adjusting your lifestyle slightly might help prevent burnout.

It’s really easy to feel crazy when you work two jobs and you have a family that relies on you. First of all, know that they love and appreciate you. Everyone has down days, but we must take care of ourselves first.

It might be difficult in the beginning but try something like starting with five minutes every morning and working up from there; eventually, you can use meditation as part of your bedtime routine so that it becomes second nature for you. You deserve it!

The kids play together while Mom and Dad enjoy some adult conversation. And everyone goes home happy!

Exercising will also make you feel better about yourself and boost your mood, which will improve how you handle stress in general. That alone makes it worth finding a way to carve out some time for yourself every day.

After all, if you’re not happy, nothing else really matters. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, schedule some downtime instead of working yourself into a frenzy trying to get everything done at once!


The tips and tricks I’ve listed here have helped me survive working two jobs. But please know that everyone’s situation is different and everyone requires something different to remain sane. That said, it’s important that you know you are not alone and there are people (like me) out there trying their best despite being in some pretty crazy situations.

There is also no wrong way to be a parent, so don’t feel like you have to follow your friends or family down their path of doing things because it seems easier or makes them happy. If you can figure out how your family fits together, what makes your kids happy, and what will allow you all to live happily and healthily then go for it!
